What's New This Year?

New for 2010 at Camp Hoover ...

  • New Specialty Camps! Horseback riding and theater camp will return to Hoover for their second summer.  Sports specialty camps will also be available for Hoover campers.  All Sports Camp and Columbus Crew Soccer camp will be offered and will take the place of the typical camp Hoover day.  Campers will be able to participate in their favorite sports all day long!
  • Community Service will play a central role at camp this summer. Camp Hoover was one of the few recipients of the Legacy Heritage Fund/JCC Association’s Day of Caring/Day of Sharing grant for an innovative Community Service based program! This summer, Camp Hoover will partner with the Homeless Families Foundation, a family shelter that provides support services to homeless families and extensive tutoring and enrichment programs for at-risk school age children. Campers will spend one day at the HFF participating in service-based projects and learning about the importance of this organization. Children from HFF will also have the opportunity to spend a fun day at Camp Hoover. They will receive lunch and snacks, participate in all the same camp activities as Hoover campers, and also have fun at a camp-wide carnival complete with jumpies and carnival food!
  • 7th and 8th graders can attend ALL camp Hoover trips!   7th and 8th grade campers will have the opportunity to attend 6 trips throughout the course of the summer!  Trips will include White Water Rafting, Hocking Hills, Cedar Point, Kings Island, Zoombezi Bay, and a Clippers game!  5th and 6th can attend all of the day trips (Cedar Point, Kings Island, Clippers game and Zoombezi Bay).  The whole camp will have the opportunity to have a fun day outside of camp at the Clippers game!
